An Outdoor Wedding at La Mansión del Fundador in Arequipa
Some weddings bring together more than two people. They bring together places, cultures, families and stories from different parts of the world.
Yulia and Adrian live in Chicago, but chose Arequipa, Peru, as the place to celebrate their wedding. Surrounded by friends and family who traveled from different countries, they created an outdoor celebration at La Mansión del Fundador that felt personal, relaxed and deeply connected to the character of the city.
I photographed their wedding using a documentary approach, paying attention to the atmosphere, the people and the small moments that gave the day its own rhythm.

A Destination Wedding in Arequipa
Arequipa is one of the most distinctive places in Peru for a destination wedding. The city is known for its traditional architecture, volcanic sillar stone, strong light and landscapes shaped by the Andes.
For Yulia and Adrian, the setting offered a beautiful contrast. Their celebration had a modern and relaxed energy, while La Mansión del Fundador brought the history and architecture of Arequipa into the day.
The result felt elegant without becoming too formal. There was space for the celebration to breathe, for guests to move naturally through the gardens and for the atmosphere of the venue to become part of the story.
Yulia and Adrian
Because Yulia and Adrian live in Chicago, their wedding in Arequipa became a meeting point for people from different parts of their lives.
Guests traveled from several countries to be there, creating a warm and international atmosphere throughout the celebration. Conversations moved easily between languages and cultures, but the feeling of the day was remarkably close and familiar.
That kind of gathering always adds something special to a wedding. It makes the celebration feel bigger, but also more meaningful.

La Mansión del Fundador
La Mansión del Fundador is located in Huasacache, Arequipa, in an area surrounded by gardens, history and traditional architecture.
The venue combines the character of an old Arequipa hacienda with open spaces that work beautifully for outdoor celebrations. Its walls, courtyards and stone details create a strong visual identity, while the gardens provide a more relaxed setting for dinner, portraits and time with guests.
Photographically, the contrast between the modern styling of the wedding and the traditional architecture of the mansion was one of the most interesting elements of the day.
Nothing felt disconnected from the place. The design, the people and the surroundings all became part of the same story.
A Relaxed Outdoor Celebration
The wedding had a calm and welcoming energy from the beginning.
Instead of feeling overly structured, the day unfolded naturally. Guests spent time together outdoors, moving between conversations, dinner and the celebration without losing that sense of intimacy.
This is one of the reasons I enjoy photographing destination weddings in Peru. The location is not simply a background. It changes the way people experience the day.
In Arequipa, the light, the architecture and the landscape all create a very particular atmosphere. When the wedding is allowed to breathe, those elements become visible in the photographs.
