Sacred Valley Wedding at Mountain View Experience | Camila & Franco
Camila and Franco’s Sacred Valley wedding at Mountain View Experience was an intimate celebration surrounded by mountains, open skies and more llamas than anyone could ignore. Held in August, their symbolic ceremony brought their closest people together in a place that already feels far removed from everyday life.
I photographed the wedding on both film and digital, allowing the quiet moments, the landscape and the energy of the night to live together without making the day feel like a photoshoot.
An intimate Sacred Valley wedding in Maras
The ceremony and reception took place at Mountain View Experience, a venue in Maras overlooking the Andes. The Mountain View team also designed and organized the celebration, so the entire day felt connected to the landscape rather than placed on top of it.
This was not a large or overly formal wedding. It felt personal from the beginning: a symbolic ceremony, a small group of people who mattered deeply to Camila and Franco, mountain views in every direction and llamas moving through the property as part of the experience.
That intimacy gave the day its rhythm. There was space to talk, walk, breathe and actually take in where everyone was. The landscape was impressive, but it never became more important than the people.

A wedding at Mountain View Experience
Mountain View Experience sits in the Sacred Valley, around an hour by car from Cusco and close to the Maras salt mines. It combines accommodation, outdoor experiences and event spaces in a setting shaped by the mountains.
Photographically, what makes the venue special is how quickly the atmosphere changes. The light moves across the Andes, the temperature drops as evening arrives and the same open landscape that feels expansive during the ceremony becomes intimate once the fire is lit.
For a couple planning a destination wedding in Peru, it is the kind of place where the setting becomes part of the memory. Guests are not simply arriving at a venue for a few hours. They are traveling into the Sacred Valley and sharing an experience that feels specific to this part of Peru.

Film and digital wedding photography
I photographed Camila and Franco’s wedding using both film and digital photography.
Digital gave me the speed to follow everything happening around the ceremony and celebration. Film offered a different feeling: softer color, visible texture and a slower response to the mountain light. I do not try to make both formats look identical. I prefer letting each one contribute something different to the story.
The result is a mix of documentary photographs, portraits shaped by the landscape and images that preserve the atmosphere of the day without turning it into a performance.
We The Lion live in the Andes
One of the moments everyone will remember was We The Lion playing live with the mountains behind them.
The energy shifted immediately. People sang, moved closer to the band and let themselves enjoy the moment. Later, the celebration continued beside the fire, with everyone dancing in the cold night air around the fogata.
That contrast is what stayed with me most: the scale and silence of the Andes, followed by live rock music, laughter and a group of people dancing beside the flames. It was wild, warm and completely their own.

What to know about the altitude
The altitude in the Sacred Valley can affect visitors who are not used to it. It is worth arriving before the wedding day, moving at a comfortable pace, resting and staying hydrated so you can actually enjoy the experience.
The journey requires a little more effort than celebrating at sea level, but the landscape, the light and the feeling of being surrounded by the Andes make that effort worthwhile.
